HAMILTON HEALTH SCIENCES is a 1,181-bed multi-site academic health science centre located in the heavily populated region of South-western Ontario. It is one of Ontario’s largest providers of comprehensive healthcare and, through it’s partnership with McMaster University’s Faculty of Health Sciences and Mohawk College, is one of Canada’s largest teaching hospitals.

Its focus for care provision is in women’s health, children’s health, burns and trauma, specialty digestive diseases, oncology services, rehabilitation, family medicine, comprehensive cardiovascular care, mental health and neurosciences. Hamilton Health Sciences is the regional referral hospital for a wide array of specialty services including acute paediatrics, cardiac, vascular, trauma, and cancer care. These programs provide a wide range of expertise and a home for other core health services such as orthopaedic surgery, neurosciences, emergency medicine, and rehabilitation.

Partnership with Hamilton Health Sciences strengthens InterHealth Canada’s knowledge base of managing regional referral tertiary care centers, specialist services and makes available medical specialists who are international leaders in their fields of expertise.

KINGSTON GENERAL HOSPITAL is a major tertiary care regional referral centre for community hospitals and other healthcare providers in Ontario. Integrally linked with Queen’s University Medical School, the 456-bed hospital supports acute and ambulatory clinical services, including burns and trauma, cancer care, neurosciences, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology. It is recognized internationally for its research in musculoskeletal surgery, medical genetics, medical microbiology, and infectious diseases. As a teaching hospital, KGH’s three-part mission focuses on the provision of patient-centred programs and services, support of education and development of healthcare providers, and advancement of healthcare services through related research activities.

With the aim of having the expertise of a major tertiary referral centre and teaching hospital, InterHealth Canada formed a partnership with Kingston General Hospital.

ST. MICHAEL’S HOSPITAL is an academic healthcare provider, affiliated with the University of Toronto. It is a major tertiary and quaternary referral centre with over 550 inpatient beds, extensive outpatient clinics, and is downtown Toronto’s designated trauma centre for adults. It provides internationally recognized care in the following areas of specialization: inner city health, heart and vascular disease, diabetes care, laparoscopic surgery, neurology/musculoskeletal, trauma and neurosurgery.

As a partner providing care in a large urban centre, St. Michael’s brings expertise in maintaining the health of a diverse and densely populated catchments area, and strengthens InterHealth Canada’s resources on the provision of quaternary specialties.

THE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL OF EASTERN ONTARIO is a pediatric teaching hospital affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa. CHEO is also partnered with 17 other hospitals in Eastern Ontario, to provide specialized services, exchange knowledge and share expertise. The hospital treats over 6,000 inpatients and 200,000 outpatients every year, providing a complete spectrum of services for the pediatric population. These services include general and cardiovascular surgery, nephrology, orthopedics, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, diabetes management, respiratory, genetics, speech therapy and psychiatry.

THE TORONTO REHABILITATION INSTITUTE is a teaching hospital of the University of Toronto specializing in adult rehabilitation and complex continuing care. It is Canada’s largest rehabilitation hospital, comprised of five campuses. Toronto Rehabilitation Institute provides a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services, and complex continuing care for adults who experience debilitating illness or injury. The hospital’s six areas of specialization include: cardiac, geriatric, musculoskeletal, neuro and spinal cord rehabilitation, and complex continuing care. Dedicated to advancing rehabilitation techniques through research, Toronto Rehabilitation Institute puts those techniques into practice, and shares the discoveries internationally.

As a partner with Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, InterHealth Canada benefits from the wide range of expertise in providing efficient and effective care for patients requiring rehabilitative therapy. The partnership also strengthens the resource base of the latest rehabilitation care techniques, backed by its experience in providing training programs to others.

LAKERIDGE HEALTH SYSTEM is one of the largest networks of community hospitals in Ontario, providing a full range of primary and secondary care through 700 beds across five hospitals in Ontario. Services include family medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, general surgery, urology, paediatrics and psychiatry. Lakeridge Health System also provides complex continuing care, rehabilitative care, and outpatient haemodialysis services.
The Lakeridge Health System strengthens InterHealth Canada’s knowledge of the provision of primary and secondary care to rural areas serving the diverse needs of a geographically dispersed population. It is also an excellent model for creating functional partnerships between similar healthcare organizations.

THE ROYAL OTTAWA GROUP is comprised of three partners: The Royal Ottawa Hospital and Brockville Psychiatric Hospital, both 200-bed psychiatric hospitals affiliated with the University of Ottawa; and the Institute of Mental Health Research, which hosts leading edge multidisciplinary research programs investigating the biological and psychosocial factors contributing to mental illness and innovative ways to treat mental illness. The Group performs research into forensic psychiatry and the use of complementary and alternative medicine in mental health.

InterHealth Canada has formed a partnership with The Royal Ottawa Group to strengthen its reference for the treatment of psychiatric disorders and to provide access to the latest in research into the biological and psychosocial determinants of mental health.

ORNGE TRANSPORT MEDICINE operates one of the largest programs of transport medicine in North America with a mission of providing patient care with innovative transport medicine. Ornge works to give the residents of Ontario Canada access to healthcare by operating from numerous bases located across the province. Nine of these bases are staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Ornge consists of over 300 dedicated employees including paramedics, paediatric transport nurses, transport medicine physicians, lead educators, researchers and office staff who champion the organizations’ vision of propelling life with innovation.

Ornge paramedics and nurses are trained to provide care for critically ill or injured patients outside the traditional bricks and mortar of a hospital. They are experienced and highly trained in providing specialized care to patients in the medical transport environment.
