The Healthcare Experts

Established by an initiative from two Provincial Canadian Governments, InterHealth Canada was created to export Canada’s intellectual expertise in healthcare to an ever expanding international market.

With a rich and diverse history spanning over a quarter of century, InterHealth Canada is a dominating force in the global market of healthcare operations and management. With a diverse footprint in healthcare consulting, planning, management and operations globally, we deliver cost-effective, culturally sensitive solutions that meet international quality standards in both the public and the private sectors.

InterHealth Canada has more than 25 years’ experience in developing, implementing and delivering a full range of primary, secondary and tertiary care healthcare services in both the government and private sector both locally and globally.

1994
• InterHealth Canada Limited was established in Toronto, Ontario.
1995
• Awarded the Heart Health Nutrition Program, a World Bank funded project in Hungary for the development of a Healthy Heart Motivational Program to be used on a country-wide basis to reduce the risk of coronary disease.
• Awarded a World Bank funded project in the Republic of Georgia to help restructure the Ministry of Health.
• Secured a license to develop the Delhi, India Heart Hospital.
1996
• Awarded , contract to develop the first Brain Injury Clinic in Bangkok, Thailand at the Kluaynamthai International Hospital in joint venture with Hamilton Health Sciences of Canada.
• Commenced the 250 beds Beijing Toronto International Hospital Project in Beijing, China as part of a consortium after securing the first license granted by China to an international healthcare operator to establish and provide private healthcare service on multiple sites throughout China.
1997
• Established the Kluaynamthai InterHealth Foot Care Clinic, the first Chiropody Clinic in Bangkok, Thailand as a joint venture.
1999
• Awarded turnkey contract to manage and operate the 355 beds Shaikh Khalifa Medical Center in Abu Dhabi, the first tertiary care hospital in the United Arab Emirates.
2000
• Started clinical operations at the Shaikh Khalifa Medical Center.
• Developed the Health Systems Review Project for the General Authority for the Support and Development of Healthcare of Abu Dhabi, UAE.
• Received the Canadian Business Council Award for Public-Private Partnership.
2001
• Received the “International Employer Award” from the Government of Philippines.
• Received accreditation by Accreditation Canada at the Shaikh Khalifa Medical Center in Abu Dhabi, UAE. This was the first hospital in the Middle East, and only the second outside North America, to be awarded this Certification at the time.
• Signed memorandum of understanding with Mayo Clinic to collaborate on providing healthcare services to Hamad Medical Corporation in Doha, Qatar.
2002
• Included on the National Health Service Franchising Register of Experts for the NHS Franchise Scheme, UK.
• Pre-qualified to bid to take over the management of “zero-star rating” hospitals within the NHS in the UK.
• Awarded the contract to provide the feasibility study, healthcare planning, design & implementation services, healthcare project oversight, commission services, and management & operation services the exclusive private Royale Hayat Hospital in Kuwait.
• Acquired shareholding in the exclusive private Royale Hayat Hospital in Kuwait from Al Ghannam Medical Services (Later Sama Medical Services).
• Prequalified by McKinsey on behalf of the Executive Office to the project to developed the planning strategy for the Dubai Healthcare City in Dubai, UAE.
2003
• Pre-qualified by the UK Government to participate in the Independent Sector Treatment Center (ISTC) bid process intended to reduce waiting times and provide additionality to the NHS.
2004
• Awarded “Preferred Bidder Status” for the Independent Sector Treatment Center by the NHS in the UK.
2005
• Awarded a PPP contract to finance, design, build, commission, operate and manage the Cheshire & Merseyside Independent Sector Treatment Center at Runcorn, UK to provide elective orthopedic services.
• Awarded a PPP contract to finance, refurbish, equip, commission, operate and manage an elective orthopedic service at the Kidderminster Independent Sector Treatment Center at Worcestershire, UK.
• Awarded contract to commission and manage the Rashid Hospital Trauma Center in Dubai.
• Opened Kidderminster Independent Sector Treatment Center at Worcestershire, UK.
2006
• Opened Cheshire & Merseyside Independent Sector Treatment Center at Runcorn, UK.
• Received accreditation by the UK Care Quality Commission at the Kidderminster NHS Treatment Center, one of the first three private healthcare providers to receive this accreditation.
• Received accreditation by the UK Care Quality Commission at the Cheshire & Merseyside NHS Treatment Center , one of the first three private healthcare providers to receive this accreditation.
• Opened Rashid Hospital Trauma Center in Dubai and delivered over 85,000 cases in the first year.
• Commissioned and opened the Royale Hayat Private Hospital in Kuwait.
• Awarded contract to commission and manage the Dasman Diabetes Center by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, Kuwait City, Kuwait.
2007
• Received US Joint Commission International Accreditation at the Rashid Hospital Trauma Center in Dubai, UAE.
• Pre-qualified to participate in the PPP bid process to establish 2 new hospitals on the islands of Grand Turk and Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos Island.
• Awarded contract to provide comprehensive plan for the delivery of pre hospital emergency medical services in Dubai UAE.
• Awarded contract to provide the feasibility study and planning strategy for the Al Jaleela Children Hospital in Dubai, UAE.
2008
• Awarded a 25-year PPP contract to finance, design, build, commission, operate and manage two new hospitals for the Government of the Turks and Caicos Islands, a first of its kind project in the Caribbean.
2009
• Appointed the Healthcare Infrastructure Project Focus Group Chair of the Commonwealth Business Council.
• Awarded a 3-year extension to the term of the contract for the management of the Rashid Hospital Trauma Center in Dubai, UAE.
• Signed letter of intent to provide planning, commissioning and management and operations services to the Limerick Private Hospital in Limerick, Ireland
2010
• Pre-qualified to participate in the PPP bid process to establish and manage the Hitadhoo Regional Hospital in the Maldives.
• Opened Cockburn Town Medical Centre Hospital in Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos Islands.
• Opened Cheshire Hall Medical Centre Hospital in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands.
• Signed agreement to privatize the 1,000+ beds Academician N. Kipshidze Central University Hospital in Tbilisi, Georgia.
• Signed agreement to provide development services, commission, management and operations services to the Reliance Referral Hospital in Abuja, Nigeria.
• Signed agreement to provide transition and commissioning services to the new Peebles Hospital in Tortola with the Government of the British Virgin Islands (BVI).
• Pre-qualified to participate in the PPP bid process to establish and manage the Żywiec Hospital in Poland.
2011
• Awarded a 30-year PPP contract to finance, design, build, commission, operate and manage the New Żywiec Powiat Hospital in Poland; a first of its kind project in Central Europe.
• Received US Joint Commission International Accreditation at the Rashid Hospital Trauma Center for the second time.
2012
• Received “Diamond Status” accreditation by Accreditation Canada International at the Cheshire Hall Medical Center and the Cockburn Town Medical Center hospitals in the Turks and Caicos Islands Project, the highest possible status.
• Signed memorandum of understanding with the Government of San Marino to develop a new tertiary care hospital under a PPP framework.
• Signed agreement with the King Saud University Endowment in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to develop a new hospital on the grounds of the King Saud University.
• Signed memorandum of understanding with Facilities Group of Brazil to develop a hospital under a PPP framework.
• Completed pre-commissioning and development services of the Peebles Hospital in Tortola, British Virgin Islands.
• Awarded a further 3-year extension to the term of the contract for the management of the Rashid Hospital Trauma Center in Dubai.
2013
• Awarded contract to review and provide implementation strategy for Health Information Management in various Acute Care Hospitals of the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia in collaboration with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA).
• Awarded contract to provide midwifery training programs to staff of the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia.
• Awarded contract to provide strategic healthcare master planning for the Prince Mohammed Medical City in Al Jouf, Saudi Arabia in collaboration with PricewaterhouseCoopers.
• Signed memorandum of understanding to build 34 hospitals in Ghana.
• Awarded contract to provide nursing training program for staff of the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia.
• Signed memorandum of understanding to design, build, equip, staff, commission, manage and operate three hospitals for the Ministry of Health of Libya.
• Awarded contract for Entry to Practice program to provide foundation administrative, business and healthcare training programs to staff of the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia.
• Awarded contract for development of a training program for Health Institute graduates with the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia.
2014
• Signed memorandum of understanding to develop assisted care project in Dubai, UAE with MIR Hashem Khoury.
• Awarded project for quality assurance documentation training program to healthcare professionals of the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia.
• Awarded project for MERS-CoV response training program for the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia in collaboration with Yale New Haven Health System Centre for Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Response.
• Awarded project for patient safety training program to healthcare professionals of the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia.
2015
• Awarded contract to provide training and education workshops for physician staff of the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia in collaboration with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
• Received “Diamond Status” accreditation by Accreditation Canada International for the second time at the Cheshire Hall Medical Center and the Cockburn Town Medical Center hospitals in the Turks and Caicos Islands, the highest possible status.
• Awarded contract to commission and operate Al Qassimi Hospital Emergency Center in Sharjah, UAE.
• Awarded contract to provide in country and out of country rehabilitation services to injured Libyan nationals.
• Awarded contract to review plan, commission, manage and operate a rehabilitation center in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
• Signed cooperation agreement to develop healthcare and health tourism investment projects with the Development Corporation of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russian Federation.
2016
• Opened the Al Qassimi Hospital Emergency Center in Sharjah, UAE.
• Awarded contract to develop public health protection strategy for the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia.
2017
• Awarded Public Health Protection Strategy.
2018
• Awarded contract to plan, commission, manage and operate the Knowledge Medical Village in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
• Awarded the contract to develop the strategy framework for the national burns services program in Saudi Arabia for the Saudi Health Council.
• Awarded the Leadership Competency Program Project, KSA.
2019
• Awarded a one year extension to the term of the contract for the management of the Al Qassimi Hospital Emergency Center in Sharjah, UAE.
• Awarded a one year extension to the term of the contract for the management of the Al Qassimi Women and Children’s Hospital Emergency Center in Sharjah, UAE.
2020
• Awarded a three year extension to the term of the contract for the management of the Al Qassimi Hospital Emergency Center in Sharjah, UAE.
• Awarded a three year extension to the term of the contract for the management of the Al Qassimi Women and Children’s Hospital Emergency Center in Sharjah, UAE.
